vintage tweed cocoon coat 1950s / 1960s Best & Co. black white boucle / oversized boxy car coat
Beautiful black and off- white tweed boucle Best & Co. cocoon style coat, circa late 1950s to early 1960s vintage.
Balenciaga was one of the first designers to produce the cocoon coat- this is no doubt a (rather high quality) period copy of his iconic designs.
Rounded, seamless shoulders- sleeves are seamed from the notch collar and down the tops of the arms. Subtle raglan seaming at back shoulders. High V- neck with notched lapels.
Three button front. Two flap closure pockets on the right front, one on the left front. Mid weight, fully lined in black rayon. Wonderfully made- tailored in the USA with "British Sportswear" noted on the label. Excellent condition.
Shape is soft and a bit slouchy/ boxy- a classic car length cocoon coat in timeless tweed- au currant (yet) again!
Measurements:
no shoulder seams to measure off of- estimating up to a comfortable 17" allowance
