1930s 1940s vintage KIMONO robe rayon circles Haori jacket OS
Stunning vintage Haori cold rayon kimono with silk lining.
Unsure of exact age- assuming 1930s - 1940s and beautifully made, this elegant piece would be wonderful as a robe or as a jacket, even over classic separates or a simple dress as a formal/ evening jacket.
Deep mauve purple with slight brownish undertones, classical black circular - almost mandala - design with flowers throughout.
Sleeves, shoulders, and chest are lined in a ivory and sage silk jacquard with a diagonal wave pattern.
Haori is a hip length kimono, usually left open as an outer kimono.
Dropped shoulder seams, wide kimono sleeves.
Two hidden cords (one on each interior placket edge at chest height) could be used to interally secure the garment; this could also be worn open, as shown, or belted with more of a traditional obi- style belt.
Condition is excellent, no staining, holes or damage.
Of a wonderful weight and a beautiful fabric, this is an amzing piece of wearable art.
Measurements:
24" shoulder seam to shoulder seam (dropped seams)
45" chest (22.5" across the back, armpit to armpit, please allow room for belting and overlap if desired), and note the longer underarm area openings as common on traditionally styled kimonos
approximately 47" hips
32" length
13" sleeves (from dropped shoulder seam)
35.5" sleeve width (17.75" along mid sleeve)
