Bright red wool and cashmere blend skirt by Loro Piana for Bodo Wiesner, circa early 1980s vintage, tagged size 42, measures to a US modern M- please confirm below.
Narrow banded waist with hidden hook closure, five gold metal round buttons with raised scallop details down the front center.
Two narrow, inward facing pleats on each front hip allow for the slash pockets.
Softly gathered along the back waistline, with a center welted seam from just under the waistband to the hem.
Super soft felted material, 70% wool, 30% cashmere, fully lined in viscose (rayon).
Loro Piana began making textiles in the early 1800s, setting up a factory in 1924, and finally exporting their quality materials in the 1940s.
Given the label and styling, this skirt is circa very early 1980s and is in excellent condition.
Still known for high quality cashmere, often sold at high end department stores and boutique shops (such as Bodo Wiesner in Germany), the quality and timeless beauty of this skirt is fantastic.
