vintage 1950s metallic brocade evening gown / VOGUE Special Design pattern S 4270 / halter dress XS
Stunning bronze and blue brocade gown created from the VOGUE Special Design pattern S 4270, dated 1951.
Halter neck, full length skirt with volume sweep, hidden Talon zip up the back center.
Brocade is a deep cornflower blue with bronze vine and floral with pale golden yellow detailing. Looks and feels like a silk brocade, possibly with low to moderate rayon content. Moderate weight.
The bodice is fully lined in blue cotton sateen- lining is faced inward so there are no visible seams; appears hand finished.
Dress is machine made, skirt is unlined.
Very well constructed- "VOGUE Special Design" label is at neck.
Condition is very good- there is a small bit of pulling/ strain at the bodice seaming. A few slight runs to the skirt fabric. Spotlessly clean, appears very seldom worn and very well kept. Ready to debut on the red carpet or at a formal event- absolutely now of a kind!
Pattern description: "Halter Evening Dress: Full eight gored skirt in two lengths joins the fitted bodice at waist-line. Right side of bodice front extends over gathered bust fullness. Halter neck-band. Centre-back closing for slide fastener."
